Me at a glance
Hello! My name is Zoe Glenn. I am a third-year Informatics student specializing in HCI at the University of California Irvine. I am also minoring in Sociology, as it relates to the field of Informatics and I strongly believe that the designers of the technologies that will shape our lives should have a solid foundation in social sciences. I think the user experience is an absolute make or break for any sort of software product, and that every single kind of user deserves an enjoyable and frictionless experience when engaging with technology. I want to be conscious of the real life impact the products I help design will be, and to design in an unbiased way.

More About me!
Some of my hobbies include:
Hiking - Hiking is my favorite way to exercise, so I joined my school’s hiking club and this year I am the hike leader!
Game development - I grew up and still do play video games, and when I started studying computer science I became interested in development. I’m a current member of a project through UCI’s Game Development Club
Art - I have been drawing on and off throughout my life, but since picking up digital art I have been practicing more consistently! I love to surround myself with things that inspire me creatively, so I also enjoy collecting art books.
Dance - I’ve been dancing ballet for the majority of my life. It was never something I did competitively, but I think that has helped me keep up my love for it. I am busy as a student, but I still attend classes when I can.
Reading - While I have always loved fiction and fantasy, I have been getting to know more classics over the past few years.
Some other things about me:
I really like learning about or taking classes on topics that interest me outside of my career goals. One of my favorite non-major classes I’ve taken has been on Greek Mythology.
I’m from the Monterey Bay in California, and so I’ve always had a love for the ocean. The Monterey Bay Aquarium was a place I spent a lot of time in as a kid.
My first sociology class was just taken for a GE requirement, but I liked the subject and saw how much overlap there was with it and HCI. I am now so glad I decided to take a minor in it, as I think it will make me a more well-rounded designer.
